Pistol came today. It was in better shape than the pictures showed; they had some white out from artificial light. All matching rig, serial number dates it to early in 1915. Imperial acceptance proof in front of rear sight, so it most likely saw action in WWI. Bore was crusty, but cleaned up fairly well with brush and jag. Holster is unmarked and form fitting to the pistol - they've been together a very long time. Range report Monday.

Very cool and just the right amount of patina. This would be the bottleneck 7.65? Difficult to get the ammo?

Just noticed the holster has "1916" to the left of the button and up a little.

Awesome. I need to get a WW1 piece sometime. I'm currently reading The Guns of August about the prelude/early war.

Range report. 65F, very windy, changing weather from storm clouds to fair clouds and blue sky. 16 rounds of PPU JHP, 71gr, 902fps/129ft/lbs kinetic energy, and 40 rounds Remington FMJ/RN, 71gr, 905fps/129ft/lbs. Pistol performed flawlessly. No mis-feeds, stovepipes, or jams with either magazine. PPU was first; hits low until I figured out I had to cover the black with the front sight, and use my fingertip, and not the curl of my finger to pull the trigger. Distance was 35 feet.

Couldn't be more pleased. Bore cleaned up a little more. As the ammo was statistically the same, the only difference falls to the RN "slug" or the JHP. Wonder if it makes any difference.

Here's the repaired holster; I forgot to tell him to move the button to the new strap.
