Hey Guys, I have a buddy in need a hunting license and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any hunters safety courses that are going on around now. Preferably in the Metro West area. Thanks

Even though they say the classes are full, tell him tofind one near him and show up the first night. Often times there will be cancellations or the instructors will be able to squeeze more students in.

That's what I did - just showed up. They never even questioned me, and the place was packed. The instructors were all guys that were passionate about hunting, so I got the sense that they wanted anyone to take the course who wanted to. I would have waited for a course with an opening, but there were hardly any courses with availability, and most were going to be an hours drive after work for 4+ nights.

There is a sticky at the top of this (Hunting & Fishing) sub-forum for NH online. Ma recognizes NH in terms of Hunter Safety Courses.

Yes but you need to take a written test and a field day in NH. I am not driving him up to NH just to take a 1hr field exam. He lives in the Metro West are so its kind of hard to go to NH and come back when your only 16.

It's not MassWildlife that "won't privatize it". It goes much higher than that. All the states and provinces are in one big association, so that all the standards, etc. are the same, so that there can be reciprococity.
