I've taken the hunter safety course before, but my wife mentioned she wants to try bird hunting so I need to get her into a class. I work full time and we both sometimes have to work weekends. I see that the classes are pretty much booked but what's the chances of showing up and there being no shows? I remember on the peta drone thread someone mentioned they call and book slots to prohibit others from taking it but thats about as reliable as a shit ticket with a hole in it (hearsay)

thoughts?

just to make sure my brain is working, i read on the mass site that a class in any US state will be good for any US state?

ETA: guess it doesnt matter
Online Hunter Education Course and Field Day Schedule - The Online Hunter Education Course is for New Hampshire Residents ONLY.

New Hampshire's women-only classes are usually the only ones with open spots in the winter.

If you do go with NH, I second the idea of doing the online training and the one-day class and test. I really doubt that anybody from PETA is going so far as to prepay for a seat they don't intend to use; that would get expensive fast.

When I took mine in MA, I had signed up for the email alert saying registration was coming soon, and immediately called to schedule. That being said, I do not think they turned down any of the folks who showed up, hoping for a spot to open up (even though all registered had arrived.) I think there may have been 5 or 6 stragglers who hadn't been able to pre-register. I took the course out in Southbridge and the instructors were really great and accommodating. Not trying to give you false hope about just showing up the day of, but I figured I'd let you know it might be an option. Never hurts :)
