HuffPost, compares the NRA to ISIS

The initial list of "similarities" can basically be ascribed to any special interest group one attempts to pigeon-hole. They're rediculously General.

Pretty much. Also, I haven't seen the NRA circulating any videos of them beheading people lately.

It used to be that people would compare their enemies to Nazis. Now that the internet has been around a while and many (most?) people who participate in political debate are familiar with Godwin's Law[1], they have to find some other Bad Guy to make comparisons to. People trying to evoke WWII fascism shifted to Mussolini or fascists generally, others pick Mao or Stalin, people complaining about a "security state" evoke the former DDR, and now apparently the Bad Guy of the Week for these comparisons is ISIS.

[1]"As any argument drags on, the probability that someone will liken his opponent to Hitler or the Nazis approaches one." There's a corollary that says "...and the person making the comparison has just lost the argument."
