Got to check out some HK416 30 round mags today. They're heavier and more solid than the standard AR/M16 mags. Pressing the follower down with my finger, they're smooth!
From what I understand, these mags are being issued to Iraq bound Marines.

Too bad they're banned here.

I'll bet, like all H&K mags, they cost a pretty penny too! Unlike std mil-spec AR mags which are going for $10-15 in free states.

I'd much rather have C Products' stainless steel 30 rounders with chrome silicon springs and magpul followers if ultimate reliabilty was the key.

At $17.99 each, they are also a hell of a lot cheaper AND the proceeds do not go to a foreign company that barely acknowledges that civilian gun owners exist.

The only downsides to the HK mags is that they apparently have a slightly
longer OAL which causes them not to fit in some brands of mag pouches
and the like... Well, that and the cost.... $50 is a little too
steep. I know they're amazing but I doubt they're $50 amazing... probably
more like $30 at the most.

I'll take my $15-20 USGI mags with a magpul follower though any day of the
week, for the cost/performance ratio. Hell, you can have a magpul follower
and a ranger plate on every mag and still be way, way, cheaper than an
HK mag.
