I finally found a case for my 1886 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle (over 52" LOA). The Plano Double Scoped Rifle Case, #1532 fits with about 1/2" to spare. I'd prefer at least 1" on each end between the rifle and the case, but I wasn't finding anything in that size. I got it on Amazon for under $50 delivered. Folks like Pelican, Midway, Dick's, etc. had nothing in this size. I did some googling of this forum and others, and struck out. I looked at the muzzleloader forums too, with no luck.

A baggage handler would probably destroy this case and damage the rifle within, but it's adequate for me transporting the rifle by car.

I thought I'd post this in case others are looking for a hard case for a long rifle. I'd also be interested to hear of other alternatives... Are there other hard cases out there for very long rifles?

Thanks,
