Anyone know of a gunsmith workshop where I could bring my 1911 and get hands-on help. I can strip and re-assemble with no problem. It's when I buy new parts that need fitting. I have to send it out and I hate doing that. What good is a hobby that somelese does!!! I have shop manuals, but way too confusing for me.

My next project would be to rebuild my Colt Officers acp. It's black matte with all stock parts. I want the usual beavertail grip, skeleton hammer and trigger and extended safety all in Stainless. Then I would like to send it out for a nitron type finish (similar to my Sig 229).

Execpt for the finish, I want to do all the work myself. Help me!!

Sometimes one-on-one time with a good gunsmith is the best teaching tool. I had a long-time gun manufacturer employee (S&W and Colt) show me how to take a S&W revolver apart, clean the insides, then put it back together. His little tips and hands-on method taught me a lot.

That's exactly what I want. Actually, does anyone know a gunsmith that will do the work with me there.

Although, I would love to join the workshop forming...

I was reading the thread about the 80% 1911's. That would be awesome!
