Added a second Carcano to my collection, partly to aid my Volkssturm impression in German Reenacting as we’ve some older guys in the unit now. This M91/24 is a pre 68 import with no markings. A 91/24 is a full length rifle (Fucil) cut down to a carbine (Moschetto). So its full name is a M91/24 Moschetto Modificato (modified) T1. Stock stamp is illegible. The T2 appeared in 1928 but wasn’t addressed as such; the 91/24 could have either bottom or side sling mounts, or both. A 28 would have both and was also made as such, not a conversion. The donor long rifle was a 1918 Roma.
I also have a 1901 Brescia “cavalry” carbine (the only carbine until 1924) with the folding bayonet that actually shoots well. Curious how this works. Bore is great. Cleaning rod channel has gunk at the bottom so it doesn’t fully seat, but is quite secure. At some point I’ll disassemble it and try to clean it out. I did strip and clean the bolt, but otherwise left it alone as it was clean enough.
