Glock 22 trigger: too much "travel" ?

Glock shooters:
there seems to be an awful lot of pull on the trigger, after passing through the safety feature, before firing. i have never tried another glock, but there is so much time i begin to lose concentration on the target and begin to wonder just how long this is going to take...

i have been practicing with it A LOT lately, including dry firing to try to get accustomed to the trigger, to no avail. another shooter who tried my pistol thought the same.

anyone else have this feeling? is there a cure? thanks in advance...

ah, thanks, i'll do that. i bought my Glock (factory reconditioned) from FS, so i'm sure they will will be happy to do that. i have put about 300 rounds through it so far....

well, I guess I'm reviving an old thread

Glock 22 is one of my three guns. It is my favorite carry gun in the winter, because I've run 1250 rounds without one single failure!

My questions:
1. is there any disadvantage or problem with breaking the glock pistols ALL THE WAY down every three months to clean it? i have "military" OCD and am used to cleaning rifles. a regular field strip seems to be NOT enough for me.

2. is there any manufactorer out there that makes replacement (wider) triggers with shorter travel? i have purchased a full set of replacement components for my glock, minus the barrel, slide and lower receiver. -i'm considering buying an NON-glock aftermarket trigger to lighten the pull and shorten the distance. i have already installed a 3.5 pound connector, but the trigger travel and weight feel the same.

the narrow trigger is part of my grip problem. i purchased the Hogue grip and it alleviated some of the problem, but the hogue grip tends to ride up while shooting.

anyway, if anyone can enlighten me, i'd appreciate it. i purchased all of my glock parts from allglock.com or lone wolf dist.

BTW, my other guns are an Smith & Wesson M&P9c and a Ruger P345.....

Do yourself a favor and go to Lone Wolf Dist. website(not sure of actuall web address) and do a search for other sites. Brownells could help as well. And do a search on this site as well, i'm sure there's tons of info in here!

Lightning Strike Aluminum trigger claims to shorten the pull and be more comfortable with a wider trigger safety with rounded trigger edges. Check out GlockTalk for lots of Glock specific info. This morning I put in a Scherer 3.5# connector and can feel no difference to the stock one so I wouldn't recommend them. Lone Wolf and Ghost have lots of customers who say good things about them. For a good 'smith, check out the local like Mike LaRocca or Gregg Derr or the Glock Specialist Custom Glock Racing.

still no progress on my glock, but since you asked...

there ia a place (web and real store i think) called "Topglock" that has modified trigger for Glock's. I don't remember it as being expensive, so , may be worth a try. Don't know if it is a wider trigger though.

A lot of the travel in the Glock trigger is just take up. After firing the pistol, hold the trigger to the rear. Now slowly relase the trigger. You will feel a click; that is the disconnector resetting. The movement from this position to striker release is all the trigger movement necessary to fire the pistol and is actually quite short.
