Bob, and others.....
I went on a mission, and found a cheap and fast solution for the aluminum for the .500 gas checks....
My local hardware store had the same stuff that the Home Cheapo/Lowes has, and I was able to locate a product that would work:
Amerimax Home Products makes an item, #54-020, which is a RAIN DIVERTER.
http://www.amerimax.com/productdetail.asp?iProductId=135&iSubCatID=8
It's 60" x 7.5" with a 2.5" right angle lip. And, as the part number implies, it's .020 thick. Actually, the one I brought home is .019" according to my caliper.
That's enough material for thousands of freechex. It was about $10.25 for the piece.
I'm cutting the strips 3/4" wide, and there's NO WASTE!
