new to the salty world

looking for places to surf cast. live in south shore and need some strippers to get hooked on salt water fishing.( i love my lg/sm mouth bass to much to give up)

Might also try on Wollaston Beach at the entrance to Black's Creek (at the southern end of the beach)....;- )

cape cod canal is best to fish at certain times... right now i seriously doubt you would get a striper in there.

your best bet is early morning marinas, where you see pogies jumping.

get a pogie and use that. we caught some seriously LARGE stripers last year that way.

there are also some nice ones here in buttermilk

I havent been out yet but keepers are being sporadically caught here on Nantucket.
All in the 28-30 inch range.
Small white Sluggo seems to be the lure of choice around these parts.
No bluefish yet. The water is still cold.

Once you hook into a good striped bass, you will think of those other bass as bait. I still like to do freshwater early in the season to hold me over until the real fish get here, but nothing compares to fighting a big stripper, the record is 52.5 pounds out at the Isles of Shoals. Realing him in was one of the best feelings I have ever had.
