Went to the range today put 150 rounds though with 2 fail to feed. It's Remington R1 1911 should I be concerned about this? Total round count is about 400 Thanks

were malfunctions failure to feed (i.e empty chamber) or misfeed (i.e. round partially into chamber or nosedived?).

Misfeed partially in chamber

people will tell you different things on this. if it's a misfeed then my experience has been usually 50% of the time it's a specific ammo the gun doesn't like and the other 50% of the time a better magazine will fix it.

personally first i would get a few different types of 230gr FMJ ammo. shoot like 30-50 rounds each ammo type and see how it goes.....often it's just one ammo type the gun doesn't want to feed correctly.

I also run pretty much only high quality mags w anti-tilt follower. the wilson combat mags are great and worth the extra few bucks. if you find a specific ammo that doesn't cycle correctly, then try it again with good quality mags and see what happens....often this will solve the ammo issue as well.

whatever you do, don't futz around with the gun itself....that's almost certainly not the issue. if the misfeeds continue with different ammo and mags then i would request and RMA and get the gun back to remington along with your data so they can review.

I had to send back to get fixed - it had troubles with a variety of ammo & Colt & Rem mags - it was a very quick turnaround!

I had trouble with my Ruger SR1911 with a Ruger factory seven round magazine. It turned out I was slamming the magazine home too hard and it was jostling the top round out of position and causing a misfeed. Just my experience.

They are very sensitive to mags. Try some Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick ones instead.

I had the same problem with my 1911. By taking a little off the bottom of the extractor it allows the case to enter more easily and the cartridge will not even need the ramp because the bullet it parallel to the chamber before the slide pushes it forward straight into the chamber. Also if your bullet droops down when coming out of the magazine it is because the magazine allows it to drop instead of letting the spring push the heavy tip upward. The only magazines I use now are "hybrid" magazines.

When I find out where I got mine I will post it here= Chip McCormick AND HERE THEY ARE:

This is what I did:

Wilson Combat does this to theirs: http://blog.wilsoncombat.com/calibers/45-acp/extractor-tuning-tips-by-bill-wilson/
