A little bit of hyperbole, perhaps? She won't even change the balance of the court, let alone cause the end of America.

Maybe not, but it does not help. Given the fact that they are nominated *for life*, your outlook is very shortsighted. What happens down the line if we confirm her, then (God forbid) a conservative member croaks/quits while we have a radically left group in control? That "slim majority" does not look so appealing now, does it?

Look at it this way.. in the last two gun cases, we were *one vote* away from losing our freedom. I don't know about you, but anything other than a unanimous decision supporting our Bill of Rights is too close for comfort.

Actually, if anything, the Court has moved to the right in the last 10 years. I don't see Kagan as the harbinger of America's doom.

Worst thing about Kagan is she hasn't even had enough experience to really have any sort of "judicial temperance".

If the Dems had any balls they would crush these nominations until Obama at least
produced a pick that was more "center-left".

I will admit that there's probably not much we can do about it, but "staying quiet because it will happen anyways" is still shortsighted. The only upshot of this confirmation is it might help blow away more seats in the fall.

They are gonna wedge her in there like a size 13 foot into a size 9 shoe... No question.

The only real impact she will have directly is, as you point out - it will cost them some more seats, but also the issue of extending the moonbattery of that seat until her "term expires"...

The "5" are relatively young, but no one knows how long they have. She doesn't change that. It's a risk that we have electing a moonbat in the first place...
