Hello all,
My first post... did my best to make sure this wasn't already covered, forgive me if it was.
I'm trying to do an EFA-10 for a vintage rifle with no serial number that I bought from out of state. I filled in all the information using NSN for serial number and I get the following error message: "The sales/transaction cannot proceed. Please correct the following errors: The weapon is already registered". It makes sense because if somebody has already registered the same make and model and used NSN as the serial number, it's already in the system. The portal software would have had to been written to accept duplicates of "NSN", apparently it hasn't.
I have FA-10 copies of a similar purchase from my local FFL that has no issue with NSN. I could probably find a version of NSN that works (like picking an unused username on a website - NSN123, NSN445, etc.), but it just seems wrong...
Thoughts and/or suggestions?
