I hate to ask because I think I know the answer, but…

Are Pre Ban HK mags available for the USP Compact?

How about the USP full size?

I'll assume not for the new P2000 series.

yes, you guessed it, i live in Mass.

My recollection is that the USP compacts were introduced after the ban and therefore no pre-ban mags exist.
Full-size USP 9mm and .40's were both available before the ban and you can find some pre-ban 9mm - 15rnd and .40 - 13 rnd magazines online. They're usually date coded with a two letter code. Go to http://www.hkpro.com/ and do a search in the forums, the date codes for magazines are different than on the actual firearms. It's also a good place to put a WTB ad since so many members live in "free" states and are willing to sell their old pre-bans to those of us who still need them.
Full-size USP .45 pre-ban magazines don't exist, only 10 rnds.
The P2000 didn't exist before the ban and wasn't imported until 2002 so no more than 10 rnds there.
i've got around 12 preban 9mm mags for my USP full-size, I believe the date code for them is KI, but double check on hkpro.com.

edit: not sure of the reason for LenS's reply but if I was misleading:
USP compact and USP fullsize magazines are entirely different in size and not interchangable.

check and see if a ten tound USP 40 mag fits in your gun. some 10 round 40 mags hold between 12-13 rounds of 9mm. I use 10 round Beretta '40 mags in my 9mm beretta for range mags they work fine and hol,d 13 rounds of 9mm. Not all .40s will do this so you have to check. I have a feeling a 10 round USP 40 mag would hold 11-12 9mm.

No, not unless there are some prototypes out there or
something, but that is a stretch, considering that the USPc
wasn't even introduced until well after the ban had already
passed into law.

9mm and .40 = yes, not that hard to get, with the
exceptions of the extended jet funnel mags, which I
believe were introduced well after the ban.

.45 ACP = rare, but they do exist. This is the subject
of much debate, but I know for a fact some preban
mags were imported, because there were people selling
them during the ban. HK-USA denies this but everyone
with a clue knows better. (IMO, HK-USA just got irritated
that someone circumvented their supply chain by acquiring
mags from the mothership in germany, or one of its
distributors) .

I'll assume not for the new P2000 series.

USPc and P2000 mags are identical.
