I think the reason Polytechs and Norincos sell for more money is because
most of them are Pre-89-ban guns. So you can do whatever the hell you
want to them without having to fart around with parts counts and so
forth. You can change the flash hider, put a folding stock on, have the
barrel threaded, etc. Less BS.

Its actually overall better design and smoother function. I have a friend who collects AK variants and having shot his Polytech and Norinco models I can say they are better quality than the cheaper Romis on the market today. Thicker receivers have a lot to do with it I think.
