H.B. No. 5114 - AN ACT ESTABLISHING AN EXCISE TAX ON AMMUNITION TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY GUN VIOLENCE AND INTERVENTION PROGRAM GRANTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to (1) establish an eleven per cent excise tax on the purchase of ammunition by a business for sale at retail, and (2) dedicate the revenue generated from such tax to fund grants through the community gun violence intervention and prevention program established pursuant to section 19a-112i of the general statutes, with the advice of the Commission on Community Gun Violence Intervention and Prevention established pursuant to section 19a-112j of the general statutes.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish an excise tax on the purchase of ammunition by a business for sale at retail and dedicate the revenue generated from such tax to fund grants through the community gun violence intervention and prevention program, with the advice of the Commission on Community Gun Violence Intervention and Prevention.
