"Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?' It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it."

--Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to Brigadier General Michael Walsh during Senate hearing Tuesday, when he the general repeatedly said, "Yes, ma'am," and "No, ma'am," when answering Boxer's questions at hearing she chaired on New Orleans' levee system.

Can you say, cu next Tuesday says what? -> Brigadier General Michael Walsh
What? -> Boxer
Exactly! -> Brigadier General Michael Walsh

Letter writing campaign.

Dear Babs,

You're a public servant.
I'll call you whatever I want. You don't have to answer, I'm not interested in everything you have to say.

<insert your name here>
From Mass.

Putting aside what we already know and think of Senator Douche, I dont think she was terribly out of line. A General would expect to be addressed properly by his subordinates.

A general would be quite happy to accept "Sir" or Ma'am."

If I'd been the one she addressed, I'd use "Senator" in a tone that clearly implied BITCH.

I disagree. Senator is not a title of rank like general. It is a job. And if anything, a senator should be considered below the people, for the people choose the senator.
