Just get a complete upper from Bear Creek Arsenal for about 300 bucks and you can use your current 223 lower with it. I've got one with several hundred rounds thru it and it functions perfectly and is quite accurate even with Tula steel case.

What do you use for mags in MA? Doubt there are any pre ban 7.62x39 AR pattern mags.

USA Magazines did put out a batch of high capacity magazines in 7.62x39 prior to the ban, they were hit or miss.

Just my two cents...I was debating between a 7.62x39 and a 9mm AR. I ended up going with the 9mm. Its a blast to shoot, ammo is very affordable and allows training for a fraction of the cost. While 7.62 is affordable as well the mags options are more plentiful for 9mm compared to 7.62. Best of luck.

Pretty much this & 9mm is way more fun while cheaper to shoot with wider parts availability.
