Ccw belt

Is a riggers belt good for edc? It seems a little over kill but I'm not sure.

you can get a riggers belt without the ring... if your pant loops can take it, I don't see why not, if you do a lot of sitting I could see that it could "possibly" get a little uncomfortable with the wider belt...
the SOE original riggers belt comes with a life time warranty that you will never use ( their words)

they have all different sizes, and the instructions are to order you pant size, like I wear a size 34 waist for my pants, so if thats what you are order 34, etc
the belts adjust outward quite a bit.... inward, not so much.

I own two decent gun belts. The first one is from thebeltman.net. It's nice enough to wear with a shirt and tie and was about $115 ($85 with military discount). The other is a 5.11 belt that I sometimes wear with jeans or cargo shorts. The 5.11 belt goes for about $50. I paid $35 at the Fort Sill PX. Both work great. I've heard good things about belt made by the Amish. They're the best bang for your buck in a leather belt.

This. I have two from thebeltman. Super heavy and well constructed. Will last a lifetime and hold up a truck. Best belts I've ever owned. You get what you pay for both belts were 100 bucks +

Original Special Operations Equipment "EDC" belt
I bought mine after Roland here on the forums said he loved it...and I wear it everyday with 2 more 1.5" EDC belts, and a 1.75" Riggers belt on order....
you do wait awhile after ordering it, but it is well worth it.

I just wanted to give kudos to this company. I bought a belt from them, but they sent me the wrong one. I sent them an email about it and they responded within an hour or so. Told me to keep the belt and that the correct one was on the way. Now that is solid customer support.

Can someone recommend a belt that has many holes similar to this style belt? <img src="http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=122186"/>
I don't think a woven belt would be stiff enough to give proper support

I am wearing this belt now and it seems to be doing a fine job. The problem I have with wooven belts is that the material between holes is only 1/4" or so thick and eventually they break and the bucket rod goes to the next bigger hole. What I do like about these belts is that with the so many belt rod holes only 1/4" apart it gives many options for how tight the belt can get. I would like to find a solid leather belt but with more rod holes spaces closer together rather than only 5 or 6 holes spaced 1" apart. Say maybe 10 holes spaced 1/4 or 1/2" apart.

Resurrecting this thread. I'm looking for a good belt and may go with the 5.11 offering. Has anyone bought a belt recently that they really like/recommend?

Thanks.

I bought two of the Amish Hanksclothing.com belts and have been very happy with them. Very well made and sturdy.

Tractor Supply believe it or not. I picked up 2 belts there - one brown, one black. Heavy and sturdy leather, actually quite stiff to begin with, but breaks in well. The leather is thick and there is a re-enforced area behind the buckle holes so the leather cant eventually stretch or rip. Its their house brand SCHMIDT I believe. best of all - they were like $10. They had plain smooth leather but also stamped leather with basket weave type design. I carry Alien Gear holster with no issues - plenty of buckle holes to choose from for a comfortable fit. Have not failed me yet!

I had the 5.11 leather belt, it fell apart in less than a year. I also had a 5.11 flashlight that stopped working after about a year as well...I think I'm gonna avoid 5.11 from now on.

I replaced the belt with a Volund Gearworks G-Hook belt. I highly recommend checking it out.

I would second that and also noticed they had a decent selection of these up at the Sig Pro Shop last week.

+1 on Andy's belts. I picked up a second one from him last week. I ordered the first one (1.25") in 2011, and it is still going strong. I wanted a new 1.5" belt. I e-mailed Andy, submitted the order through his website, and received the belt within about a week. Plus, once you try his buckles, you'll never want to use a different kind of buckle.

I love 5.11 pants (the all cotton Covert Cargo is what I sue). Don't buy any of their other stuff, though I do have a 1.5" belt, which is uncomfortable somehow.

I use a Mitch Rosen express line belt which is a lot more comfortable, even though it's also 1.5".

Another vote for the wilderness. I've had mine for over 5 years and it's still holding strong, even after supporting an M9 for 16+ hours a day in Afghanistan for 6 months.

For summer carry, I'm using a Spec-Ops "Better BDU Belt" for about $25. Not as sturdy, but good enough for an LC9s.

Two years later, the G-hook'd Volund Atlas remains my favorite belt.

Yup. I've had a wilderness along with a couple other high quality leather belts and while they all functioned well, the oversized buckles aggravated me. They print more than the damn gun! I found the Atlas G-hook Belts are sleek and comfortable and perform equally as well in a more modern design.
