The state of today's journalism. Obviously an updated story, but it's kind of weird to read in the opening paragraph that the suspect is dead, and in the third paragraph that "Officers continued hunting"...

Anyhow - he's dead Jim.

And I suspect that the story will quickly fade. No white supremacist Trump supporter, no AR15.




The suspect wanted in the shooting of 9 people, 8 of which were fatal, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday after being located by U.S. Marshals, police confirmed.

Romeo Nance was found at approximately 8.30 p.m. by U.S. Marshals near Natalia, Texas, just hours after police in Joliet, Illinois, warned locals to remain vigilant as he remained on the run.

Officers continued hunting for the “armed and dangerous” man who is believed to have been involved with at least eight shooting deaths in the previous 48 hours. The ninth, a shooting in Joliet, was non-fatal, police said.

Details on the confrontation were slim on Monday night, but the Joliet Police Department confirmed that “Nance took his own life with a handgun following a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials.”
