Help Stop Illegal Gun Trafficking in Massachusetts

Dear Massachusetts StoptheNRA Member,

Illegal gun traffickers are flooding our communities with weapons and fueling the gun violence that kills hundreds of people a year in the Commonwealth. We can help keep illegal guns out of our communities by urging the Massachusetts Joint Committee on the Judiciary to pass HB 3978, a bill to limit bulk sales of handguns to make it harder for gun traffickers to stay in business. We have a big opportunity to make a difference and it is up to all of us to make our voices heard.

Email the Joint Committee on the Judiciary Today

We cannot allow this spiraling violence to continue. HB 3978 will help reduce in-state gun trafficking and set an example for other New England states to follow. Governor Deval Patrick has taken a proactive stance to reduce gun violence by introducing HB 3978 and he needs our help.

Gun traffickers often employ straw purchasers to buy firearms in bulk - the guns, in turn, are sold on the illegal market, often to juveniles, and are often used in street crimes. By limiting handgun purchases to one per month, a gunrunner is unable to obtain multiple handguns at one time, dramatically reducing the profitability of this practice.

Here is what you can do today:

1. Email the Joint Committee on the Judiciary Today.
