Always an excellent match. Who is going? Have you seen any stages posted yet?

I am headed there Friday with Gramps, shooting Saturday, headed home that night.

Hope to see you there.

unfortunately that is the weekend of the Pan Mass challenge, I am one of the medical crew leaders, so I will be busy all day Saturday.

looks like it will be a great match

USPSA does not require classification to shoot any match. USPSA Membership is requires at matches at a certain level (not sure if this match is one of those), however, that provision is not always enforced.

The AWARE is definitely worth the trip.

I think we are shooting Saturday. I go up Thursday to the in-laws and will be around the range Friday watch the shooting and check out the stages.

Like all big matches, they put a ton of work into these stages. The props are literally painted works of art, there is a lot of thought put into each stage design (last year's "Maze" and "Casino" stages come to mind), and the range itself is in a beautiful area. It is definitely worth the trip.

Gary, must you be USPSA classified to shoot at this match?

NO; feel free to come and "sandbag" us with your IDPA skills. [wink]

But seriously, folks; AWARE is a major match and the stages are simply stunning. A LOT of time and effort goes into designing and creating them - they start about a week after tear-down!

I'm heading up Saturday to shoot on Sunday. I promise not to "do an Elvis" practicing in the motel room.... [rolleyes]

Great Job Dan!
now tell us where it is.

I'll be there. Shooting Saturday, & I expect to shoot Bass River on Sunday. I believe this charity match is for one of the most worthy of causes.

I hope to get there early enough friday so I don't have to rely on Steve to figure out the mind-F stage (if they have one) that The Maze was last year.
Props to Steve.

Anyone ever see the film of the match last year that some Direct TV or Dish network did? I'd love to see it.

Shoot Saturday; drive from Vermont to the edge of Mass., then shoot AGAIN Sunday morning?

Day-um - "Supermatt" indeed! [wink]

Ok, here's a list of matches I did- next day
First nationals I ever shot, I got a flight home as soon as i could on the saturday as the match ended, shot Harvard the next day. Not a huge big deal I suppose since it was just sitting on a plane from illinois. I plan on doing this again if I can get a late flight out saturday from Oklahoma since it's a Manville weekend

I've shot Alburg and whatever match was the next day down here. That's like on the border of Canada
And last year I think it was shoot the Aware, then show up early to set up stages and help run Manville
But the dumbest thing ever was last years- Shoot Area 8 in East Huntington PA, on Saturday, get out of there around 130, drive the 11 something hours back fueled by Red Bull and Starbucks Mint Chocolate frozen capuccino. Go shoot Harvard the next day, and shoot Skeet after.
Yeah, i was pretty worthless that day.
The Aware drive will be simple.

OK, the Hooters is in Burlington, 45 miles away. Now, I understand that the Green Mountain boys are accustomed to hiking barefoot 60 miles through driving snow just to get a steak-and-cheese sub; nevertheless, 45 miles might be a tad too far for flatland girlie-men. (Although I'm certain the manly revolver shooters can cut the mustard.)

So, a proposal; the shooters' pre-meeting location: The Shed Restaurant and BREWERY, Mountain Road, Stow. That's right, I said "and brewery." And if you need a little something to warm a long, cool night in a lonely Vermont motel room, they also sell 1/2 gallon growlers to-go.

Head back into Stow on 100, hang a right onto Mountain Road, and the Shed is about 3/4 mile up on the left.

What does any of this have to do with "Competition Pistol Shooting?" I have no idea. But since I've gotten into this game, it seems I have been taught more about where to eat and drink than how to make holes in paper. (or perhaps that's just what I've chosen to absorb)

Dan, I think that location closed a few years ago. I remember it being on Williston Road down the road from my dorm at UVM, toward the airport but it is some sort of other restaurant now. However, downtown Burlington in the summertime is a convergence of students from 5 colleges that like to party a lot, you won't miss it.

How does your post relate to competition pistol shooting? I took an economics exam after a night of Mountain Ale from the Shed Junior year. From that experience, I really recommend you don't do the same before the Aware match. However, having to vomit in between stages is probably a lot funnier than have to do so during an exam.

Sounds good Dan considering I am staying at Town & Country Resort on Old Mt. Rd.,in Stowe. I'll drag Gramps along but let's set a time for us old guys that need our rest.

Also, I have some LE friends in VT that I have asked for other places that are good too. (I may even be able to get you a room for the night at the Blue Light Motel

Steve, you mean a Hooter's location has closed? Oh, the humanity. It was still posted on the corporate website. Anyway, too bad they don't take video during economics exams; that one would be worth a few bytes on MySpace.com.

Gary, we'll likely head over to the Shed after checking out the stages Friday afternoon. Probably in the ball park of 6:30. I'll e-mail you for a cell number.
