Of course. Because everything else they have tried has failed and been proven false.

They were screaming for "background checks" after Newtown, b/c they knew that would be all that they could ram through Congress. They wanted an new AWB, but that went nowhere once people got over the initial emotions of the event and started thinking logically again.

Simply the antis (and certainly the pols) don't give a $hit if any of this is effective or not, they just want moar control.
