warm and fuzzy

[laugh2] good stuff. fired one off up in NH at a range, but didnt really get to see the muzzle blast do to the lighting... lil not much though

Low light pics of muzzle flash are not that hard. Even easier now with digital cameras as you can see the result and make adjustments.

Put the camera on a tripod. Manually set the F-stop to something high like 22 and the shutter for several seconds. Have a friend or use a timer. Click shutter button, Fire, wait for shutter to close. Review. If the image is too dark, open up the F-stop a little. Your muzzle flash acts like a camera flash resulting in the photo.

You do need it fairly dark and no other lights in view of the camera to work well.

With that much flash, how much of the powder do you figure is actually used to propel the bullet? Half? Maybe 3/4? Is there any ballistic advantage to having a large excess of powder?
