21 killed, 18 injured in shooting at elementary school in Uvalde, Texas

The eFA10 transfer in MA is a de facto check right? You can't do it unless you enter both transferor/transferee's LTC and the page spits out 'proceed with transfer', AKA the system checks to see if either of your LTCs haven't been revoked yet. Then the state gets a record of the transfer, aka de facto 'GUN REGISTRATION'
Yes, I completely agree.

JFC u have no sense of humor! I know that’s not my A game but come on that was worth a laugh!😂👍🏻

Dude, it's the internet. I just don't know anymore these days.

Regardless, we can all agree in our hopes that the good people of Texas will not want him as governator.

I think reasonable security in schools is good. Things such as controlled entries and trained SROs make sense. I'd add allowing teachers to be armed, and training them and students on effective responses. IMNSHO searching students and their belongings on entry, metal detectors, wanding or requiring clear backpacks are too far.

And regarding building security, I think there needs to be more thought put into the design and use of things like security doors and cameras. Note that classroom doors that can be heavily secured to keep active shooters out also make it easier for a shooter to barricade themselves inside when they do get in. And in-classroom cameras can be useful for SA and recon during an event, but have some privacy concerns during normal times.

WRT to SROs I think the good ones provide security, and work to counteract the cops-are-pigs/fear-the-police mindset by their interactions with students and teachers. And they should have appropriate training. IMNSHO using them for routine discipline and crowd control is a misuse of SROs.

There is no perfect solution, let alone a perfectly safe solution.
SRO's at my kid's old school were 'on the clock' deputies. They played 'football' with the kids during recess. I got fist bumps from even the troubled kids in the hallway. I firmly believe kids today are yearning for leadership, men being men. Yes, I said it. Men being Men. I commented multiple times the school reminded me of a prison yard. No talking in the hallway, stay in single file line, yada yada. Being in a new school system, my kids tell me daily, 'there's no chaos here, just learning', so my experience may be jaded by personal observations in a school that was wonkers when it came to disclipline.

I hate these school mass shootings. I weep and pray for the children and their families.

What I hate most, is having to immediately go on the defensive against well-intended, but truly ill-advised or naïve people who IMMEDIATELY in the face of these tragedies call for more gun control.

I end up coming across as a self-serving gun nut countering every stupid argument they put forth, describing what the 2A is and isn't, what "assault weapons" are and aren't, and why they shouldn't be banned, yada yada ad nauseum. If's exhausting. I'll NEVER stop, though. I cannot and will not back down from any of those discussions, lest they opposition think they've won, or even got a toe in the door.

Nobody knows what threats future Americans will face from religious, political, racial, or other extremists who may attack our great Republic. NFW will I let our as yet born great-great-great grandchildren be disarmed by THIS generation of pussies.

this is still cracking me up. Honestly could not name a single current porn star. Free pornub just long enough to fire out some knuckle children and I move on.
she just acted a league better than all the other female pornstars of the 90s era. today, plenty of good talent out there no one really stands out thats why you dont remember them by name.

2A limitations? OK Joe, now do the 1st Amendment and if all you got is the tired “You can’t shout fire in a crowded theater,” trope then someone gets to kick you in the nuts.

🐯
Even the premise of the “yelling fire” argument is flawed. You are not allowed to do it and if you do, you are liable for any consequences.

In the same light, you are not allowed to shoot up schools and if you do, you face the consequences.

Nobody has removed my vocal cords to prevent me from yelling fire or forced me to get a background check before I can use the word “fire” nobody has banned high capacity variations of the word like “conflagration”

Of course, many of the same people who believe 18-yo's are too immature to own guns also believe 16-yo's should be allowed to vote. Personally, I view a 16-yo possessing the vote to be a far greater threat to our country than an 18-yo possessing an AR.

The problem with such amazing coincidences as these shootings occurring on the eve of a major SCOTUS ruling on carry laws is that such coincidences fuel conspiracy theories. So in that vein, while there's no evidence in the affirmative, does anyone here not believe the CIA or another gov agency would be capable of engaging in psyops to turn disturbed young men into Manchurian Candidates? Given the recent leak of the Abortion draft opinion in an attempt to pressure the court, the timing of these shootings does cause an eyebrow to raise a bit.
It's not a big trick to manipulate mentally ill people.
Take a look at places like Democrat Underground and you could find a suitable candidate in short order.
Some of these people don't need more than a nudge.
Now take some soulless sociopath working for a three letter agency winding the spring and it's off to the races.
When they asked FBI agent Lon Horiuchi if he would have canoed the head of an unarmed woman holding an infant in her arms if he had to do it over again he didn't miss a beat when he said yes.
The same guy who was picking off people trying to escape the fire at Waco.

Think the same guys who were posing for trophy photos with the burnt corpses of women and little kids have a problem with provoking the murder of a few more ?

JFC, not every fed thinks like that. Not even close. You have the same percentage as here that are bigots, that think gays should be quarantined, we never landed on the moon, in any population you're going to have psychopaths. Psychopaths are good at getting away with it because they have no moral compass.

I'm sure it's a legit registration behind all the BS, as we know how MA is.

That said when I renewed my LTC for the last time I was with the officer in his office and he pulled up my info. I asked him to click on what was registered (or whatever) to me. It was missing a LOT of guns. Maybe over half?

Not sure if it was due to the old mail in scan days or what. But it was the joke you'd expect it to be.

The fact that any of it existed at all is a violation of your 2nd and 4th.

Silly.

He was only looking at page one of three.

Works great until the custodians prop the doors for two hours while moving baseball equipment outside. I saw that just today. Same thing happens a few times a week when the cafeteria gets deliveries.

Post a guard at the door. Not the retarded janitor. The solution is so obvious you have to be a liberal to not see it.
.
Think about it, every time they fill a pothole there's two detail cops loitering around waving cars by.

Can't think of the last time I saw one of them who wasn't focused on his cellphone like some teenage girl.
.

Okay.

How much are you going to pay the guard? Who are you planning on hiring? Every year we try to hire people for makework jobs like those: hall monitors. Bathroom matrons. Lunch duty people. I read all the time on NES how there are scores of retirees in the community who would love to come in and do those things, but strangely? Not a single one of them ever applies for the $15 an hour or so that the school committee is willing to shake loose.

You need to pay someone enough that they'll show up and do a good job, and they need to be able to pass a CORI and then you have to retain them. In a job that is perhaps more boring than anyone can possibly imagine.

This isn't some liberal/conservative pissing festival. This is the real world of school employment, volunteerism, whatever you want to call it, and I'm telling you that schools are already trying to take your advice. They can't make it work, at least not in my community. Maybe yours will have better luck?

a security expert on Fox said there are 500k schools with 900k entrances.

I just googled it last night, idk the exact number, but im sure 54 billion would help us alot more if we used it to put armed first responders in schools than it would lining zelinsky's pockets in ukraine

Somebody did the math on the $40B to Ukraine, and it’s about $450k/school.

Let’s pay the “guard” $450K/year.

Let’s see who we can afford to watch our kids. It’s worth every penny.

I help part time doing security training and consulting for a friend who's getting his private security company off the ground here in AZ, a lot of his customers are schools. We put well trained guys armed with long guns in the schools and they are on station to respond in the event of a shooter.

Last week there was a guy in phoenix who was shooting a gun in the air and walking towards a school, over 80 LE units responded and split the guys wig almost immediately.

This is how you stop this shit.

Looks like police did not enter school right away:

Sadly we live in a very sick world, sicker than it's ever been before. And in the short term, there isn't anything we can do other than protect the children by adding more and more armed guards, I guess we are going to have to outgun the shooters—one way in and one way out. Do something stupid and get shot at the gate, no questions asked. Schools have to be set up like prisons. This might sound like a bad idea to some but if this saves your child I'm sure that will make you change your mind.
I am a firm believer that the internet is what is wrong with the world we live in. Instant access to anything you desire is there with the click of a button. Everyone is an attention whore regardless of their chosen path. Human nature being what it is will never change this.

I figure one specops guy per school at $450K per year would do the job. He can bring in backup at a word, take up any position he likes each day (sniper, hallway, entrance, patrol, etc), recon whatever he needs to, best gear avail. The school’s guardian angel.

40 minutes between the time that shots were first exchanged outside the school and when the coward was shot:

"Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw said “40 minutes or so” elapsed from when Ramos opened fire on the school security officer and when the SWAT-like Border Patrol team shot him."

Looks like police did not enter school right away:

It’s almost like the police don’t have a duty to protect individuals. (Eye roll)

It doesn't even have to be somebody that skilled, just your every day patrol cop would be fine. Once they harden the schools they will not be targets anymore.
