1926 Mosin 91/30

Stopped into Collectible Arms & Ammo for the first time today. Really nice guys working there and they have a pretty good selection of mosins. I made the trip hoping to pick up a Hex head 91/30. Well I got one, it's a 1926 Izhevsk, I believe it's an ex dragoon. All the numbers match (6988). Imported by P.W Arms. Here are some pictures, maybe there's more some of you experts can tell me about it.

Beautiful 91/30, I want a Hex. I don't know much about them, someone will definitely help you there.

Hey thanks. There was one other hex receiver there along with around 20ish round receiver mosins. One of the guys working there told me there was a 1898 Ex Dragoon 91/30 that was among the rifles in the crate, a guy bought it yesterday. Wonder if it was a fellow NES'er who got it, anyone gonna own up to it?? [smile]

On either side of the dovetail cut of the rear sight base, you will see a small gap between the barrel and sides of the base (enlarge picture to see best). This is a trait of the retrofitted M91/30 base to the former Dragoon barrel's rear sight seat. On a true M91/30, built in or after 1930, there is no gap between the base and the barrel.

Hey thanks guys. This was the only gun there that really jumped out at me and I had to have. They had a couple beat up Albanian Sks' that I'd love to have, but they're asking a little too much. I'll be up North for work this week so I'll most likely be stopping at a couple shops and hopefully picking up some more Milsurps.

Here's something I picked up this morning. My first Tula. It's a 1937 imported by ATI (very small & light import mark), all numbers matching, has an izhevsk magazine and stock bands. Has a 2 on the underside of the pre-war stock along with other markings I cant make out. I'm very happy with it for $130.
