If i got this from a gun shop or show i would say "OK" some hacker got to it.
But i got this 1903 Springfield from the C.M.P. and i have had it for a year and a half, i just got around to d-greaseing it. yuck! you know that story!!
anyway i got it cleand up looked down the bore and was verry happy to see
it brite and shiney and with well defined rifeling the stock looks like $-it but
on further inspection i found two holes on the right side of the reciever
that looks like ther was a peep-sight instaled at one time, but no cut-out of
the stock?? the holes are 5/8 inch c/r to c/r and threaded 6/48 i dont
see that there was ever a sight instaled, my other 1903 is not like this!
the barrel is dated 8-30 has anyone heard of anything like this beeing done
in military service???????????there would be no reason to do this if it was a leagion gun and turned in?? any information would be apreciated
