I have a .45 1911 and a .223 M4A3.

How much is the average cost of ammo? I want to get a better deal if I can but if what I'm paying is average then I rather not even waste the gas driving around.

I paid:

American Eagle .45 230 grain FMJ...box of 50.00 for 25.00

PMC Bronze .223......box of 20.00 for 10.00

Remington Gold Saber .45 hollow point.....box of 25 for 32.95

When/If you hit the "lottery" and Wal-Mart has ammo, WWB 100rds .45ACP is $29.97 (I just scored some today).

Haven't looked for .223 in years. Don't shoot it that much any more and socked away a good supply back when it was dirt cheap (Wolf crap, but it shoots).

Lens - That's cool. It seems the ammo shortage is so very far from over but in a good way it's not as bad as it was 3 months back. So if I find a 100 pack for 30.00 it's a good deal....thanks.

I wouldn't pay more than 40 cents a round for any standard rifle caliber such as .223 or 7.62x39, and no more than 30 cents a round for any standard pistol caliber.

I agree with regards to x39 and .223.. I pass on anything over that on those calibers...

However, .45 is another story. The last few months i'll buy when I see it .50c a round and under.

I live in a condo. I am wondering if a re-loading setup would be worth it for me.

At 12 cents per round for .45ACP, the payback on a Dillon 650 is pretty quick if you shoot 500-600 rounds per month. I bought mine in Feb and it has already paid for itself and it doesn't really take up much room. You could get by with a 24" x 36" bench.
