My chicks are 4 weeks old now, boy do they grow fast. A large raccoon was prowling around the coop over the weekend, probably the same one who killed a couple of my guinea fowl last year. Some well placed shots with the bb gun scared him off.

Mine are a week old now and starting to get their wing feathers. They showed me this morning we have to put some cardboard higher up now.![[laugh]](/xen/styles/default/xenforo/smilies.vb/012.gif "Laugh [laugh]")
I put new shavings in the coop and some decides to show me they can sorta fly and perch on top of the cardboard now.
Also got a few roosters starting to act like roosters too.

Once they start "getting their wings" , they will hop up on the water jug and soil their water. I solved that by putting a coffee can on top, but a week later they just flew on top of that. Now they have more room in the coop and stopped that annoying habit.
Oh I know. They are showing me all kinds of things. We'll see if some of the roosters end up as Cornish hens.
