West Virginia’s Larry Houck Captures New England Shooting Title

Sedro-Woolley, WA — Larry Houck of Charles Town, West Virginia won the Limited-10 pistol title at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s Area 7 Regional Shooting Championships hosted by the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club in Harvard Massachusetts. It was the third Area 7 title for Houck who also won in 2006 and 2003.

“Larry led the match from start to finish by winning eight of the 10 stages and finishing second on the other two. It was a superb performance despite the uncharacteristically oppressive heat and humidity. Larry even joked he could have stayed in West Virginia if he “wanted heat like this.” But we’re glad he made trip,” said Rob Boudrie, USPSA’s Area 7 Director.

Area 7 shooters Jeff Jackling of Rochester, New York, Steve Rubalcaba of Websterville, Vermont and Scott Chapman of Burlington, Vermont finished second, third and fourth respectively. Rounding out the top five was one of the handful of Canadian shooters who competed. Steve DeLottinville finished fifth, and along with his wife Cathy, also a competitive shooter, made the trip from Ontario, Canada to shoot the match.

The USPSA Area 7 Championships were held at the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club in Harvard, Massachusetts June 6-8. A total of 188 top pistol shooters competed in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions. The USPSA Area 7 region includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont but shooters from Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania as well as Canada and Jamaica attended.
