Speer Cruises to Victory in Area 4 Production Match

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — Steve Speer cruised to victory by just over 181 points to claim the Production Pistol division title at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s Area 4 Regional Championships held November 14-16 in San Angelo, Texas.

Speer, who is a Master level shooter from Coppell, Texas, won seven of the 12 stages, including the first four, as he racked up 1102.8167 match points and the match win.

“Steve clearly dominated the Production field at the Area 4 championships. This is one of our most popular divisions which continues to grow, making winning difficult regardless of where you compete in the country,” said Dave Thomas, USPSA’s executive director.

It was an all-Texas top five in Production as Michael Klausmann of Lewisville, won four stages and finished second with 921.6507 points, followed by Barrett Fine of San Antonio, in third with 879.7012, Jason Tielke of Houston, in fourth with 856.6780 and Aaron Marco of Austin, in fifth with 846.6543 points.

A total of 120 top pistol shooters competed in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions at the regional championship.

The USPSA Area 4 region includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas but competitors from Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, New York and Utah attend.
