Sgt. Travis Tomasie Wins Area 5 Limited Title

Sedro-Woolley, WA — Fresh off his Area 7 victory, Sgt. Travis Tomasie of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) won the Limited Division at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Area 5 Championships held in Dorr, Michigan.

“Travis led the Limited match from start to finish collecting seven stage victories on the way to the title. He’s one of the top Limited shooters in the nation and is always a threat to win as evidenced by his back-to-back Area 7 and Area 5 wins. I look forward to seeing him vie for the National Championship later this year,” said Gary Stevens, USPSA’s Area 5 Director.

Rounding out the top five in the Limited Division were Matt Cheely in second, Shannon Smith in third, Ted Puente in fourth and Mike Burrell in fifth.

The USPSA Area 5 Championships were held at the South Kent Sportsman’s Club in Dorr, Michigan. A total of 283 top shooters competed in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions. The USPSA Area 5 region includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
