Active shooter.

Multiple people shot and transported to hospital.

Developing.

Texas authorities are responding to a high school shooting in Arlington Wednesday morning.

Arlington Police confirmed it was on the scene of a shooting at Timberview High School, and its officers were carrying out a "methodical search" and working closely with ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), the Mansfield Independent School District, which has its own police department, the Mansfield Police Department, Grand Prairie Police Department and other agencies.

The school district is setting up a parent reunification point at the Center for Performing Arts located at 1110 W. Debbie. Arlington police tweeted that officers will be at that scene, and students will eventually be bused to that location after the school is completely secured.

No additional information was immediately announced by authorities. A media staging area was also being set up on the school's softball field.

KXAS-TV reported that multiple people had been shot.

A spokeswoman with the Mansfield Independent School District confirmed to Fox News Digital by phone that there is a "police situation" at Timberview High School. She said "the school is on lockdown, students and staff are in their classrooms and offices are locked down, and no visitors are being admitted at this time," but declined to provide any additional updates.

DFW Scanner, a digital news site serving North Texas, reported that multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the school around 9:30 a.m. local time, as radio calls came through about a potential shooter. The website also said a suspect might have since fled the school in a Dodge Charger.

According to the website, a Dallas Police Department’s Air-1 helicopter was overhead, as officers were inside searching the building.

Yeah, you're first. But at least Woodsy gave us a link.

With the two of you combined, we have a useful post.

“A woman who identified herself as Simpkins’ mother said he was bullied. But she declined to comment Wednesday afternoon outside Simpkins’ grandmother’s home in Arlington as law enforcement searched the residence.

Clint Wheat, his cousin, wrote in a Facebook post, “At the end of the day my lil cousin was bullied. I don’t know to feel about this he not no bad kid.”

Later in the evening, Carol Harrison Lafayette, who said she’s a family member speaking for the family, said at the house that Simpkins was robbed before the attack happened. “He was robbed,” she said. “It was recorded. It happened not just once, it happened twice. He was scared, he was afraid.”

All likely true - family speaking up (no mention of father) and suggestions the school system failed, as though it’s the school system’s fault. Who made school administrators responsible for children gone bad? If this kid was 21 and all this happened on the street, it might have been self-defense.

The solution? Systemic racism, equity, climate change - need to pass $3.5 Billion bill (to spend that $5 Billion on violence intervention), pass more gun control, etc. Would the kids have not bullied/robbed him if we had free pres-school? Would the parents have been more responsible if they had 2yr free community college? The kids shot would be eligible for violence prevention intervention - only 1/3 engage with no clear program success.

Texas High School Shooter Released From Jail on Bond

Simpkins was released on bond from Tarrant County Jail on Thursday morning, which was set at $75,000.

The bond included several conditions: drug and alcohol testing, GPS monitoring and 24-hour home confinement, according to orders from Tarrant County Magistrate Judge Brooke Panuthos.

An arrest affidavit released Thursday morning reveals more details about the moments leading up to the shooting, including witness accounts describing to police an alleged fight between the witness and the suspected shooter.

Of the four victims, two remained in the hospital Thursday morning; one is a 15-year-old in critical condition and the other is a 25-year-old listed in good condition, police said. The other two were not in the hospital.

One article lingered over the next day. What I haven’t figured out, if if he actually shot anyone or just discharged a gun and people got trampled running away. Gun Violence Archive would call this a School Shooting with 4+ injured - if anyone was shot. It’s kind of like 6th of Jan - anyone who died within the DC border was a in the body count from extremist insurgency…

”Due to the fact that they were blessed financially, he was able to get things that other children or teenagers could not have,” Harrison-Lafayette continued. “And so because he wore nice clothes and because he drove nice cars and because he had the things, he was like a target.”

Timothy Simpkins, 18, fired a .45 caliber handgun in a Timberview High School classroom following an altercation with another student on Wednesday. Of the four people injured, three were hospitalized, with a 15-year-old boy still in critical condition. He fled the scene and turned himself in to the police several hours later.”

Timberview High School shooter found guilty of attempted capital murder

Timothy Simpkins pulled a gun following a fight with a classmate and wounded 3 people

A teenager who shot and wounded three people at a Texas high school was found guilty of attempted capital murder.

A jury found suspect Timothy Simpkins guilty on Thursday at a court in Tarrant County.

The charges relate to an altercation that took place in 2021, when Simpkins was an 18-year-old student at Timberview High School in Arlington.

Simpkins drew a .45-caliber handgun during a fight with then-15-year-old classmate Zac Selby and opened fire.

The gunfire critically injured Selby. Additionally, a teacher was hit, and another student was grazed by a bullet. In the ensuing chaos, a pregnant teacher was also reportedly injured.

Simpkins then fled the scene in a 2018 Silver Dodge Charger.

So what does that mean? Murder 1 or 2?
Not my bag of knowledge, but Capital Murder is normally 'bad' murder. Pretty sure they used the gun at the school to show premeditation, prior thought about the crime by actively bringing a gun somewhere it wasn't allowed or usual.

Edit: attempted, but the thought process involved before the crime, if proven, can elevate it.
