The war-time German Luftwaffe Contract 660 code Mauser from the Steyr Arsenal in Austria is a gun with an identity crisis. Technically, it is a G12/34 or an M12/34, but many call it the G29(o).

Whatever the designation, it isn't a common rifle. Mine appears to be in exceptional condition, and what initially appears as original matching numbers. The bolt, however, is straight handled instead of curved, and appears to be of the same design as the Czech G.24t. The bolt sleeve also appears matching, but the finish on the sleeve and (unnumbered) safety is a little thinner than the rest of the rifle.

So the bolt is either intentionally installed at arsenal from a different model, and numbered to match, or it is just a freak of collecting that a bolt from a different model was miraculously found by bubba with an existing matching number... dunno!

Any way you look at it, it's a spectacular and uncommon specimen. Original and rare sling is a big bonus.

Thanks for looking.
