Updated 10:50 a.m.:Standoff at gun shop continues

Austin police officers responded to the scene of an early Tuesday morning "intrusion alarm". After arriving, they found guns and weapons strewn about. The officers were backing off to determine if anyone was inside the gun shop when the lights went out inside the building.

Later, officers discovered the phone lines had also been cut to the building.

APD spokesman Joe Muñoz says that a later call from the alarm company reported that motion sensors from the business had picked up some sort of movement. There are no reports of any shots being fired or hostages.
A CBS 42 news crew on the scene reported hearing popping sounds in the area of the gun shop standoff shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday. It may have been the sound from a police "flash grenade," which was used to determine if anyone is in the building.

The McBride's gun shop is located in the 2900 block of San Gabriel, just north of downtown. Motorists are advised to avoid the area because the police activity has closed off streets in the area.
Lamar is blocked between 29th and 32nd Sts. and surrounding streets near 29th and San Gabriel.

According to the McBride's Website, "[It] has one of the largest firearms inventories in the nation."
