For some reason Ive been wanting to make a solar oven.
Every once in a while I like to tinker around and make something like one of these ovens or other survival related item.
A quick search revealed this page with a lot of good ideas.

Im tempted to make one soon so I can try it out on sunny winter days to see what it will do. The box cookers seem simple enough.
Ive also been looking at emergency heaters. After seeing the WW11 in 3D show on tv and the movies of Battle of the Bulge, I remembered my grandfather telling me how they made a heater that consisted of a bucket of sand that had diesel fuel or kerosene dripping into it.
He didnt describe how well it worked , I suppose it didnt work well enough because his feet froze anyhow, but I did find this emergency heater design.
It would work well in a small shelter, tent or even a small room.
