First: If I as a MA resident want to sell a gun to someone in NH, can I just drive to a NH dealer, and do an FFL transfer to him in the shop? It seems silly to have to *ship* to a dealer I can drive to. Presumably the FFL can accept the gun from me personally, enter it into his book, and then transfer it to the NH resident, right? Like an FFL transfer in-state, but we go to the buyer's state to do it.

Second: If I want to buy a gun from an out of state person, can it happen at a MA FFL without shipment? I imagine that if the seller has a non-resident LTC he could simply drive to a MA FFL and then do a regular transfer. Or, if he doesn't have an LTC, the two of us could drive to a MA FFL ('cuz it would be transported under my direct control as a MA licensed person) and then the FFL could do the transfer.

Yes, you can drive guns into free states and use a dealer there to transfer to a resident there.

With the 2nd question if the person had an MA nonres LTC or you escorted them into the state with the guns, you could do it....

ETA: moving this to gun laws, really doesn't belong in GD...

Both have been answered numerous times before, in the Gun Laws sub-forum.

The scenarios you outlined above are perfectly legal and any FFL should be willing to do it without any problems.

Grrr.... My searching revealed nothing useful. I've got to figure out the magic juice to make the search feature more useful for me.

Right on. Thanks.

Don't feel bad, I was trying to find the thread that Jim McLoud posted on the open house at the new MFL yesterday. I tried searching on a number of words that ARE in the thread. NO LUCK!! Finally, I just searched for all posts started by MFLR and found it.

There is definitely something "broken" in the vB search mechanism currently (worked better a few revisions ago) . . . and it's beyond Derek's control, so I grumble internally but don't pester him about such things.

Glad to help.

You can use google to search this forum. Just type your search inquiry and put "site:northeastshooters.com" afterward and it will only search this site for the stuff you typed. Note that there is NO space between the word "site:" and the beginning of the web address. For example, I just typed "mfl open house site:northeastshooters.com" into google and the correct page was at the top of the results list.

I wasn't sure it wasn't in the NES Members only sub-forum (which Google can't archive), so didn't try that this time.

Point is that it shouldn't be necessary to use Google Search for NES searches by members . . . if vB Search worked properly.

For others, your reply should be saved as "valuable info".
