I recently purchased the Smith and Wesson 15-22 and yesterday while at the range a couple of my buddies and I got into a discussion about magazines.

My question is in the state of Massachusetts with a 22 caliber sport rifle can I legally purchase and use a 20 round magazine as well as unpining the stock.

Thank you so much for all your help

Nope. The AWB does not exempt 22 LR guns or magazines, despite what our AG's "enforcement notice" implies.

Fixed tubular magazines on 22s are allowed to be over 10 round capacity, but that's it.

Look up the AWB in the MGL, look up Healey’s enforcement notice and proceed as you see fit.

Ignore Healey's BS, it's not law and following it wrt a .22LR can get you a felony.

IIRC MGL C. 40 S. 121 - definition section defines what makes a so-called AW (and mag issue). Just abide by that and you are GTG.
