Anyone know offhand if the S&W M&P15 lowers are acceptable as service rifles for NRA/CMP matches.
I'm posting this for Major Buzz as he's off on Reserve duty this week.

the lower should make no difference whatsoever, assuming it doesnt change the profile of the rifle (IE ambi-bolt catch is an external modification, IIRC ambi safety is not)

as long as the rifle matches the external configuration of the M16A2 / A4, with either the A2 carry handle or the removable carry handle (A4) he's good to go.

Both the ambi bolt release and the ambi safety are external modifications and neither is on the very short list of CMP-approved external mods.

Any lower that is configured as a bone stock A2/A4 USGI lower will pass muster. Surprisingly, finishing (as in colors) and engraving are not considered external modifications and every year at Perry you see a few wildly colored service rifles.

That girl is at basic training right now...and will be joining the Army Marksmanship Team in the spring...she can shoot

And yes S&W receivers are fine
