I bit the bullet on this and sent it back to S&W for repair, refurbish, & refinish about six
weeks ago. I just received it this evening. This is the tightest S&W revolver I have ever
owned. Finish is a deep almost-black bluing. What looks like speckles on it is just tons of
lubricant which is reflecting light. Overall I'm pleased. I have what is for the most part, the
equivalent of a brand new pistol. The defective part was returned as well. Unfortunately I
was too lazy to set up the camera to take some better pics at this time but I will later.

The Goodyears are what I like so no comments by you wood grip Krishnas! [smile]

You and I can argue about Cuber, but we certainly do agree on guns. That is one fine revolver, rubber and all.

Richard,

Sweet lookin' Model 17! I have a very similar-looking 17-4 m'self.

And I don't necessarily prefer the rubber grips - IMHO, wood is almost always better - but my wallet sure does! [smile]
