Ruger SR-22

The thing I don't like about the sr-22 is the lack of a front sight. I do have a want for the s&w ar-22 for training though.

Just my 2 cents.

Anyone know who currently has an sr-22 available in MA for purchase? Thanks.

What do you think of using this instead of a Ruger 10-22?

Just to avoid confusion, a SR-22 is fact a 10-22 in a Nordic Receiver. If you already have a 10-22, rather than waste the $500 or so on the SR-22, just buy the receiver and build your 10-22 onto it.

You'll be able to pick whatever handguards you want and end up with a more customized rifle. I'm not a huge fan of the rail that Ruger includes with their SR-22, maybe like a YHM would be a good fit?

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. They've got them here for $25.00 cheaper and free shipping.

Why not start with a 10/22 and put this ATI stock on it:

http://store.a51tactical.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2102

Then you'll have a place to mount a TechSight iron sight or an optic. (The stock comes with a picatinny rail!)

This stock also has an adjustable rise for the comb, whereas the SR-22 has no rise at all. You will need to raise the comb if you go to an optic.

It can be fired in the folded position.

And how about that SIG 522? Not legal South of the Border with the Flash-Hider, but a nice Appleseed rifle too, I think.

The SIG 522 is no doubt a very nice rifle, but at $450-500, it cost about $100 more than a complete LTR, including scope/Tech Sights, with the ATI stock as suggested in my post above.

I'm not sure how much one would need to add to the SIG 522 to make it an LTR. Does it have iron sights? Does it come with a GI web sling, swivels, and 1.25" loops? If not be sure to add to your cost for the SIG 522 about $50 for an optic or iron sight and about $25.00 for the sling.
