Original Winchester factory records are available for this model from the Cody Firearms Museum in Cody, Wyoming, from serial number 1 thru 353999.
Thanks for the help. The store that I purchased it from thought that the blueing is still original! No biggie if its not. I’ll take more pictures tomorrow.I'm pretty sure the first two digits are 1's. Winchester's commercial guns didn't use letter prefixes as far as I know.
Winchester Model 94, winchester model 94 values, Winchester 1894, winchester model 94 prices, model 94 rifle, winchester lever action, 30-30 lever action

I think the 1's appear as lower case L's to you because the gun seems reblued to me. The font on the tang seems too rounded, like the gun was reblued. The bluing is also pretty strong for a gun made around 1897, 1898, assuming the serial number is 117072.
If you're really curious about the gun, I would get a factory letter from the Cody Firearms Museum. But that gun looks refinished to me and obviously the rear sight isn't factory, especially from 1897, 1898.

I was thinking the same every 94 I've ever seen had a more or less straight stock and rectangular lever.I see that is says 1894 on the top tang but it doesn't look like any 1894 I've ever seen. It looks like a model 64.
Those guys do an amazing job.I've got a '95 that has a 3-digit serial #. I still have to ship it to Turnbull to restore. It needs a lot of TLC.
Hi there, I just got around to give the rifle a quick wipe down and took more pictures of it.Try and get pictures of the rear sight, any markings, and wear marks on the bluing. If you have a hard time getting crisp pictures of the markings, fill them in with white chalk. The chalk comes out when you rub on gun oil or water.
30 w.c.fWhat's the thing chambered for?

Why would re blue it? It's already been re blued.Hello all,
I’m new to the Winchester world and was wondering if anyone with 1894 knowledge could help me.
I recently purchased my first Winchester 1894 and am having a hard time finding info on my own.
Thanks
- It’s a 4 digit serial number starting with two letters ( LL ) 7xxx. Or is the first 2 number 11 not LL digits !
- What’s its age?
- I do know it’s not a carbine, so is it called “ standard “ ?
- the barrel tip isn’t crowned, is it stock ?
- what would be a rough value in today market?
- Would I ruin any value if I was to re-blue it to clean it up?
They lied....or the sales rep was clueless and just made shit up. No way that's the original finish. On one of your photos I think I can even see old pitting that has been blued over. Thanks for the help. The store that I purchased it from thought that the blueing is still original!
