So I’ve been shooting more rifle rounds lately, and my stocks are becoming depleted. What is the good benchmark per round price for .223 or 5.56? Seems like 30 cents per round is the acceptable range for range ammo. What say you NES?

With sales and rebates you should see sub 30¢ for common brass range ammo.

You can get Federal (brass) for 25 cents after rebate (30 before)

Yup, just have to get the rebate processed. Paperwork is the thing on this planet I hate most, right after politicians. I just give the cr@p to Lady Radtekk and let her accountant brain handle it. She does the paper, she gets the $. I figure it's lost to me anyway so wth...

Kinda like me and casinos... I should just walk up to the guy at the door, hand him the $500 or so I was gonna lose, and walk away. He's happy, I save an hour of time, my blood pressure doesn't spike...

The reabtes are pretty easy to deal with. I haven't tried with federal but I have with Vista Outdoors and they came quick.

I’m guessing for the Federal rebates if you, say, buy a 50 box case of AE223 you have to cut out the UPC and punch in every. single. 20-round. box. ? Then put all 50 UPC’s in an envelope and send it in? or is there a UPC on the case?

I have no idea. I have boxes and boxes of both and no idea what I paid cuz in the end it doesn't really matter if I saved a few pennies per round.

I did the Federal rebate on 2000 rounds. Wasn't too bad of a process. Wait time is about 4-6 months. I just got my check last week.

I’m just lazy. It would be nice not to have to punch in 50 UPC’s and stuff an envelope with them all.

It’s been confirmed (not by me) that you can send in the case upc. For the rifle rebate note that there is a 2-submission per (person? Household? Address) limit, and the form is set up to have you report one purchase date and vendor so in theory you may not be able to capitalize on a bunch of cases or boxes unless they are on one or two invoices. I’m specifically not submitting a bunch of small box purchases so I can ensure my two big TSUSA orders get rebates.

I’ve also gotten the CBC 5.56 1000-round cans at cabelas for $300, they’re usually $370. They’ve been on sale twice since summer at $300. You are shooting 8-10’year old ammo but if it’s just for plinking or training v0v. I’m cheap so I buy them with cabelas gift cards I’ve purchased at Target for 5% off with the Target credit card so have paid $285 out of pocket for the cans. Little bit of a hassle I guess.

Join TSUSA Prime and get a case of Federal M855 (600 rounds) 62gr delivered for under .30/round. Ask me how I know...

Learn something new every day... Are "their cost" prices really a significant mark down? I usually always buy from them by the case so the free shipping bit is kind of meh.

They claim via email that it's 8% off with prime. I can't do it from my phone but there's a "Prime ammo" tab on their web page. Not sure what the login process is but that's how I ordered. The biggest benefit IMHO is the ability to order small quantities. I shoot 357 and 44. I don't want to buy a case of either. Being able to buy 50-100 at a time is nice, paying the shipping would suck.

I'm also looking at switching defense ammo in 9 & 45. So many choices, I'd like to shoot 100 or so of each to see what my guns like before I buy 500. Again, shipping...

Finally, they guarantee you'll save more than the cost of membership so there's nothing to lose.

Yes, the upc from the case box. Not the 50 small ones.
But takes forever to get your money back.
Just go for the $0.29/$0.30 benchmark without rebate.
