The NRA Basic Pistol Course is designed for individuals who want to apply for a Firearms Identification (FID) Card or License to Carry (LTC) permit.

Course instruction includes:

  • Pistol Parts and Operation
  • Ammunition
  • Using a Pistol Safely
  • Operating a Pistol
  • Cleaning, Storing, and Transporting a Pistol
  • Shooting Fundamentals
  • The Bench Rest Shooting Position
  • Other Shooting Positions
  • Improving and Maintaining Shooting Skills
  • Massachusetts Laws Pertaining to Permit Application, Firearms Storage and Transportation

The next class will be held on August 15, 2015. You may register by following the provided link. Other courses for 2015 are scheduled for October 17 and December 12.

The NRA Basic Pistol Course will be offered during one instructional session lasting approximately 9 hours, starting at 8 AM and finishing around 5:00 PM. You must attend the entire session. Instruction will take place in a small group permitting a high degree of personalized attention. This course includes Classroom Instruction and Live Fire Exercises at a pistol range.

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is being offered at $110 per student (check payable to "SRG"). The Course Fee includes all course materials, use of firearms, ammunition, and hearing and eye protection. Lunch will be provided!
