Most Amusing Things Ever Heard On The Scanner

This time of year there are normally several calls from people who see barns (or shacks) with white "smoke" coming out of them.

The dispatchers are fairly well versed in this area and after confirming the address they ask if it is maple sugar processing in progress.

More often than not it is a tourist passing through who called and had no idea how maple sugar is made.

Dispatcher: "The tone is for "Smithville" ambulance. Respond to 123 Main street for a woman fallen from a horse. Time 1730."

(a few minutes later) "Smithville" ambulance: "Patient sign off. Woman is back on the horse riding away. Smithville units returning, in service."

Dispatcher: "OK, the patient is riding off into the sunset. Time 1745."
