Description:
Length and width of blade....18"/34" long, wasp waisted blade.

Overall length...................25"

Condition of blade............The sword grooves are graying with the remainder of the blade being bright. I believe this piece was cleaned some time ago. The blade is straight with factory edge. No rust, bends, sharpening or abuse. There is 1 chip in the edge.

Condition of hilt...............Guard, grip and pommel are cast brass. The straight cross guard has various initials which are inspector marks. No damage or repairs. Hilt is solid to blade with no movement whatsoever.

Scabbard..........................Sword has its original black leather scabbard with brass mounts. All the stitching is tight. The scabbard has cracks with a break on the front but the break does not go around the back. Overall, it is in decent solid condition and a good fit to to the blade.

Maker's mark....................... Eagle over "N.P. AMES, CABOTVILLE". Opposite side marked "U.S. 1845 NWP". These swords were issued from the 1830's right thru the Civil War.
