Yes, for the narrow cases in which a Maine permit allows carry that their CC bill does not. I think there are only like 4 of them and they are on one of the maine .gov websites.

Maine will be receiving more reciprocity from other states as a law was passed this past session that will make it easier. As far as wanting to have a permit in Maine, you will need one to carry in state parks and Arcadia National Park. If you are CC you must also disclose you are carrying when stopped by the police. You will also need a permit to carry with in the Federal School Safety Zone which is I think 1000 feet around a school property. If you are under 21 you cannot CC in Maine unless you are active or former military. But 18 year olds can get a permit. Of course, for residents, a permit is required for reciprocity with other states.
