M1917 Cal. 30

So I picked up this August 1918 M1917 by Remington and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what the mark on the stock is? I assume it’s for a unit but I can’t find anything on google (it comes up with stock exchange accounts). Any help would be useful! Any help with screw removal from hardened cosmoline would be welcome too!

Its definitely a Remington Stock, its got a big "R" under the barrel and above the bayonet lug.

Nice to have a matching stock. You can try Kroil or another penetrating oil for the screw.

Get guns I have a eddystone it was my 1st 30/06 mill bolt gun. I should take it out it been a while. Mine 03's get more attention.
