I recently picked up an M1 carbine in an auction. Though mechanically in really great shape, there is a crack in the stock along the top on the edge opposite of the op rod handle (if that makes sense). Anyway, I bought the gun as a shooter, but I would like to preserve the stock.
I found that Fulton Armory makes new stocks for the M1 carbine, and have heard good things about the work they do in general, but I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with the new stocks from them.
I would buy a new stock and new metal parts to keep the stock that came with my rifle as intact as possible.
For those that have gone through this process, how much fitting did you find was required on the stock?
Suggestions for other vendors are welcome.
Thanks.
